Paper Tower Game


According to my point of view, this paper tower game which we have done in our ppd session is not just a game. It can be considered as a group activity which can improve our soft skills which cannot be developed only by doing the academic stuff. Leadership skills, speaking ability, creative thinking and time management are some of those soft skills.



  • What is the paper tower game?


First of all we were divided into three groups by counting. In this activity we were provided 12 papers, a gum tape and a pair of scissors. Apart from that, the tower that we built could be stand at the given place. Then we have to build the tallest tower within the given 45 minutes.



  • How did we do that?


First of all we had a small discussion about the way we build the tower. As we all concerned about the height of the tower we started building it from the body by rolling those given papers. Then we divided our group members into sub groups. Then some of them made the basement and others made the body. Though we were sub grouped we shared our ideas each other. Finally we fixed the part of body to the basement.




  • What are the problems which occurred while doing the game?


When we build our tower taller, little by little we could see that the balance of it was losing. Then we realized about the theory weight point is going to the up of the tower according to the height increasing. To get the weight point down we added four legs to the tower. And it helps to stand the tower as well.
We made a small ornament to fix at the top of the tower but unfortunately we were unable to fix it because of balancing problems and time problem.




  • What are the things that we could do to make it in a better way?


 To make our paper tower better, we could have a proper plan from the first. By having a strategy we should have been pay more time to make our basement of the tower strongly. After that we should have been build the body. And also time management was a problem and we should think more creatively as well.




  • What are things that we can gain to our life?


  1. Have a proper idea about the task
  2. We should have a strategy before starts that task
  3. Always should follow the leader
  4. Listen to the other ideas as well
  5. Think in a more creative way
  6. Always be prepared (scouts ‘motto)
  7. Be careful about the dead lines
  8. Keep going on and do not lose the faith

What you learn from PPD PPD which is known as Personal Progress Development can be considered as a guild line of our lives. Not only that but also it is energy and time saving method. From these PPD sessions that we had in our university, we were able to make new unforgettable memories as well as good lessons.
