Rocket making activity


We started our second semester first activity in PPD very excitingly as we know something interesting is coming up.


Our lecture divided us to 2 groups and we got 6 papers in Yellow color. We were asked to make paper rockets as much as we can in 20 minutes. First of all we got 3 minutes to discuss about the task and to come up with ideas to make the task more efficient. Then the lecture marked a 10 feet distance on the floor. We had to make our rocket fly across the 10 feet distance.


We did some trial rounds and came up with 2 sizes which can possibly cross the marked distance. Some of our members (including me) have not known how to make rockets. So for learning process it took a considerable amount of time.




When the time is over we could only make 29 planes. Then 2 boys were chosen to make it fly. Out of 29, only were able to pass the line. It was a failure for our team.


In this activity I learnt to make rockets as well as working with different type of people was not an easy task. So, to make the task success we should have been more active and the communication between members should have been in a better level.

Paper Tower Game According to my point of view, this paper tower game which we have done in our ppd session is not just a game. It can be considered as a group activity which can improve our soft skills which cannot be developed only by doing the academic stuff. Leadership skills, speaking ability, creative thinking and time management are some of those soft skills. What is the paper tower game? First of all we were divided into three groups by counting. In this activity we were provided 12 papers, a gum tape and a pair of scissors. Apart from that, the tower that we built could be stand at the given place. Then we have to build the tallest tower within the given 45 minutes. How did we do that? First of all we had a small discussion about the way we build the tower. What you learn from PPD PPD which is known as Personal Progress Development can be considered as a guild line of our lives. Not only that but also it is energy and time saving method. From these PPD sessions that we had in our university, we were able to make new unforgettable memories as well as good lessons. According to my view, our PPD session is mainly focused on the point which is having a strategy before starting a task. We have to pay more attention to some points like the dead line, way of doing the task (analysing the task), things that make the task easier, way of getting maximum use from the given resources.
